Howdy!
My name is Andrea Saavedra and I am a Biological & Agricultural engineering major from Pearsall, TX but most importantly I was a Howdy! Farm farmers market intern this semester!
Being a farmers market intern this semester gave me the understanding and experience of food production.
I learned about: irrigation, soil sampling, how to harvest an assortment of produce and also how to plant produce!
I learned how to tend to a tomato plant, dry herbs and cook a bok choy!
Also, some I got some muscle and color from being out on the farm!
I now have an understanding of why it is so important to find out where your food comes from and what’s in it!
These issues are important!
You might think about them every so often but its one of those ideas that needs to be etched into your brain!
I also learned a great deal about advertising and farmer to consumer relationships.
I can take an amazing picture and put a witty caption but no one will be able to see my hilarious-ness if you don’t share and retweet my posts! (By the way thanks for the support!)
I urge you to come out and see what a farmers market is like and how necessary it is to support local and small businesses! Learn where your food comes from and how organic produce can help your health in the long run!
Come out and volunteer at the farm and learn about farming, sustainability and agriculture!
You don’t have to be a pro, we teach you all you need to know and take advice easily!
I can’t wait to see what the Howdy! Farms future holds and I’ll be supporting them all the way in months to come!
