July 25-26th we made a trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Amsterdam by far was my most favorite place to visit, it was literally so amazing I plan on going again August 4th.
We ended up buying the Amsterdam Holland Pass, I highly recommended this for people who are staying in Amsterdam for more than 1 or 2 days.
They have 3 different options:
We got the 5 pass: 2 gold, 1 silver, they give you a nifty book on what to do in Amsterdam (and what place are gold and silver) these gold and silver passes let you in for free, and with the Holland Pass you can even get into a lot of places at a discounted price (for whenever you run out of gold and silver passes) they also gave us a city map and a 24 hours bus pass (value 7.50 euro) !
I found it much cheaper this way! And we easily payed off the 52 euro with the amount of places we went to (and free bus pass.)
Gold: Heineken brewery, Amsterdam Ice house (1st visit)
Silver: Canal cruise, Resistance Museum, Oude Kerk (2nd visit)
The city was just beautiful, mostly because of the many canals that are in the city. It's just a romantic place to visit and seeing their culture was also fun.
We also visited Anne Frank's house (9 euro) and the Van Gogh Museum (Van Gogh was gold but I got it discounted for 13.50 instead of 15 euro).
My twin sister visited these place on her study abroad in Germany summer 2013, so she recommend both.

Visiting Anne Frank's house was literally like stepping back in time. Restoration efforts in preserving the house couldn't be more amazing. It was emotional to walk through her room and see the pictures she pasted on her walls. Where they ate, hid. They had tv's where interviews were shown from people who help hide her family and her friends. A must see for anyone who visits Amsterdam, nonetheless read her book. |
